Free the slaves

“When you buy a Hebrew servant, he serves six years, and in the seventh he goes out free, for naught – Exodus 21:2.

I understand as I learnt from scripture lectures that Abraham was the first Hebrew and that Isaac, Jacob and his decedents are Hebrews, also known as the children of Israel. Jacob’s children or decedents are Israelites.

Does Exodus 21:2 mean that the tribes of Israel could take a fellow Israelite as a slave or is a Hebrew person more than just an Israelite. If Abraham was a Hebrew than Ishmael who is also a son of Abraham also a Hebrew.

Does the verse in Exodus 21:2 speak about an Ishmaelite?

Jeremiah 34:9 also speaks about Hebrew slaves.

Jeremiah 34:9 That every man should let his man servant, and every man his maid servant, being a Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; no one was to keep a Yahudiy, his brother, enslaved.

Why does it mention Hebrew and not Israel slaves?

Could it be the mention of Hebrew slaves to be from the tribes of Ishmael? If you read further in Jeremiah 34 than it is found not only to be from the tribes of Ishmael but also from Israel. Read the last part of verse 9 and 14.

Both Jeremiah 34:9 and 14 is speaking about “his brother who is a Hebrew,” meaning to me it is an Israelite slave.

Jeremiah 34:14 At the end of seven years each man should let go his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to him. When he has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you. But your fathers did not listen to Me nor stretch out their ear.

Jeremiah 34:17 “Therefore thus said Yahuah, ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming release, each one to his brother and each one to his neighbour. See, I am proclaiming release to you,’ declares Yahuah, ‘to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the scarcity of food! And I shall make you a horror to all reigns of the earth.

The disobedience of verse 17 for not letting the slaves go free after 7 years was another reason Judah in this case been punished. Read Jeremiah 34:18-22.

I must wonder how the slaves in those days are compared to modern day slaves. I mean we are a type of slave to this worldly society or system; we are not free. We may have more freedom than those in prison or maybe not all depending on what you want to be free from.

The only place I can be completely free is spiritual but again many people allow themselves to be demon possessed (enslaved) as well.

If you change the “slave” to “servant” than it does not have the same meaning.

Is this a mistranslation of scripture?

Who made or formed it?

So says Yahuah its Maker, Yahuah who formed it in order to establish it; Yahuah is His name: Call to Me, and I will answer you; and I will tell you great and inaccessible things; you do not know them- Jeremiah 33:2-3.

Yahuah is the Creator. Yahuah clearly states that in the end time all will know that it is Yahuah doing these things. Call by His Name and He will answer you.

Jeremiah 16:21 “Therefore see, I am causing them to know, this time I cause them to know My hand and My might. And they shall know that My Name is Yahuah!”

The promise to the house of Israel and house of Judah (Jeremiah 33:14) will be as follows.

Jeremiah 33:15-16 ‘In those days and at that time I cause a Branch of righteousness to spring forth for David. And He shall do right-ruling and righteousness in the earth. ‘In those days Yahudah (Judah) shall be saved, and Jerusalem dwell in safety. And this is that which shall be proclaimed to her: ‘Yahuah our Righteousness.’

We believe the Branch to be the Messiah/Prophet. The Branch of righteousness and ‘Yahuah our Righteousness. Is this talking about the son and the Father? Is the Branch not connected to the trunk, other words the Branch is the right hand or strong hand of the Father who is the trunk? It is the son and His Father, connected as one. One in thought, same personality and mind but they are a son and a father. We worship the Father whose Name is Yahuah and His son’s name is Yahusha.

Almighty’s character

The character of Yahuah is spoken by Jeremiah and confirmed in various other verses.

Jeremiah 32:18-19 who show kindness to thousands, and repays the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them– the Great, the Mighty El, Yahuah of hosts is His Name, great in counsel and mighty in work, for Your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.

Exodus 34:6-7 And Yahuah passed before him and proclaimed, “Yahuah, Yahuah, an El compassionate and showing favour, patient, and great in kindness and truth, watching over kindness for thousands, forgiving crookedness and transgression and sin, but by no means leaving unpunished, visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

Numbers 14:18 ‘Yahuah is patient and of great kindness, forgiving crookedness and transgression, but by no means leaving unpunished; visiting the crookedness of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’

Deuteronomy 5:9-10 you do not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, Yahuah your Elohim, am a jealous El, visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands.

Below Yahuah says He will save us, destroy the wicked nations but that we will first be judged and punished the sins we did.

Jeremiah 30:11 ‘For I am with you,’ declares Yahuah, ‘to save you. Though I make a complete end of all gentiles where I have scattered you, yet I do not make a complete end of you. But I shall reprove you in judgment, and by no means leave you unpunished.’

The prophet says in Jeremiah 32:17 ‘Ah, Master Yahuah! See, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is no matter too hard for You. Jeremiah 32:20-22 ‘For You have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, to this day, and in Yisra’el and among other men. And You have made Yourself a Name, as it is this day. ‘And You have brought Your people Yisra’el out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great fearsome deeds. ‘And You gave them this land, of which You swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

But they did not hear and was punished: Jeremiah 32:23 ‘And they came in and possessed it, but they did not obey Your voice nor did they walk in Your Torah. They did not do all that You commanded them to do, so You brought all this evil upon them.

But after the punishment is complete, they will be returned from captivity (the bad place) to the good forever place. This all will happen one day.

Jeremiah 32:37-44 Behold, I will gather them out of all the lands, there where I have driven them in My anger, and in My fury, and in great indignation. And I will bring them again to this place, and I will cause them to live in safety. And they shall be My people, and I will be their Elohim. And I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me all the days, for good to them and to their sons after them. And I will cut an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do good to them. But I will put My fear in their heart, that they shall not depart from Me. And I will rejoice over them, to do good to them; and I will truly plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.  For so says Yahuah: As I have brought this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I am speaking to them. And fields will be bought in this land, of which you say, it is adesolation, without man or beast; it has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans. Men shall buy fields for silver, and write in a document, and seal it, and call witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the Shephelah and in the cities of the Negev. For I will cause their captivity to return, says Yahuah.

This is the covenant

The famous chapter: Jeremiah 31:31. Behold, the days are coming when Yahuah will cut a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Other words with all the clans of Jacob.

Jeremiah 31:32-34 not according to the covenant that I cut with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt (which covenant of Mine they broke, although I was to be a husband to them, says Yahuah). But this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Israel: After those days, declares Yahuah, I will put My Torah in their inward parts, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. And they shall no longer each man teach his neighbor, and each man his brother, saying, Know Yahuah. For they shall all know Me, from the least of them even to the greatest of them, declares Yahuah. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more.

A promise of the New Covenant and is repeated below in Hebrews 8:8-12

For finding fault with them, He says, “See, the days are coming,” says Yahuah, “when I shall conclude with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah renewed covenant, not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them,” says Yahuah. “Because this is the covenant that I shall make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahuah, giving My laws in their mind, and I shall write them on their hearts, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. “And they shall by no means teach each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know Yahuah,’ because they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. “Because I shall forgive their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I shall no longer remember.”

If the first covenant was faultless, then there would not be necessary for a second one (Hebrews 8:7), but we all know the first one was broken.

The Messiah is the Mediator of this new covenant (Hebrews 8:6, Hebrews 9:15 and Hebrews 12:24). Today the Mediator is through the Spirit of Yahuah which the Messiah said would come when He left.

The instructions given by Yahuah at Mount Sinai stay the same forever, it is the first covenant that could not be kept by the people but the second covenant will be able to be kept as it pressed into your heart and mind by Yahuah and not by man.

Jeremiah 31:34  tells us man will no longer teach each other but we will know Him because it is written in our hearts by Yahuah.

This is made possible through Yahusha the Messiah who is the Melchizedek and now seated at the right hand of Yahuah the Father.
