Unevenly Yoked

Believers must not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers - 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

Why should we not be forming binding relationships with unbelievers, because this might weaken our commitment, integrity, or service to Messiah?

It is a mismatch.

The difference is one is righteous the other one lawless, or the one is fellowshipping in light, the other one in darkness, even your body as the temple of Messiah having union with the body of a false idol.

Believers should be active witnesses for Messiah to unbelievers, but they should not lock into a relationship which can cause them to compromise their belief.

We cannot isolate ourselves from unbelievers because we are all part of this world but we can and must be Set-Apart and be an example to the unbeliever.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 7:12-17 that if a man has an unbelieving wife (or woman having an unbelieving husband) that the husband should not divorce her but he should pray for her and be an example (in behaviour) to her in Messiah's way.

But if the unbelieving wife (or husband) wants to leave then the believer should not stop her. The believer can only pray for the unbelieving spouse but the believing spouse cannot save the unbelieving person only Messiah can save her/him.

Separation from the world involves more than keeping our distance from unbelievers; it means staying and having a close relationship with Father Yahuah.

Believers are a temple (dwelling place) for Yahuah to dwell and walk in and He will be our Elohim (Almighty) and we shall be His people if we stay Set Apart - 2 Corinthians 6:16, Leviticus 26:12, Exodus 29:45 & Jeremiah 31:1.

2 Corinthians 6:17, therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says Yahuah, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you.

Praise Yah
