By fire

Remember the words spoken by the prophets and the commandment given from our Master Yah (2 Peter 3:1-2).

Mockers shall come in the last days with mocking, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? (2 Peter 3:3-4).

2 Peter 3:4 For from which time the fathers fell asleep, all things remain so from the beginning of creation.

Many people say, “Ag everyone says this or that will happen, but everything is still the same!”

They forget!

2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly forget, that the heavens were of old; and the earth rose up from the waters, and by means of water, by the word of Yahuah.

And then this happen………..

2 Peter 3:6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.

Because of sin.

It will be destroyed again due to sin as follows.

2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth now, having been stored up by the same Word, are being kept for fire to a day of judgment and destruction of wicked men.

Do we know when this will happen? According to Peter only Yahuah knows.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved ones, let not this one matter be hidden from you: that with Yahuah one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of Yahuah shall come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up.

It can happen in one day in 1000 years, or 4000 years, or 6000 years but it will happen as a thief in the night.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in Your eyes are like yesterday that has past, or like a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:11-12 Seeing all these are to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be in set-apart behaviour and reverence, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of Elohim, through which the heavens shall be destroyed, being set on fire, and the elements melt with intense heat!

Be ready and be separate from the world and its entertainment.

2 Peter 3:9 Yahuah is not slow in regard to the promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Don’t we have a wonderful, caring Heavenly Father.

Repent and turn back to the Creator.

Yahuah’s promise is for us to wait for the renewed heavens and earth (2 Peter 3:13).Isaiah 65:17 “For look, I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come to heart.

We need to be diligent, spotless, and without blemish that we may be found peace in Yahuah (2 Peter 3:14).

Peter is looking forward to this promise, so too should we.

Be aware there are those false prophets and teachers who will twist the words of Paul’s letters and also the scripture to deceive you of the truth. You are warned that this will happen and is happening so be on the watch all the time because they will lead you astray so you become lawless (2 Peter 3:16-17).

The lawless ones (untaught and unstable ones) are the ones who twist the letters of Paul to try to defend their disobedience. They ignore the plain teaching of Yahusha who repeatedly upheld His Father’s commands.

Stay in the truth until the end.

Cease from sin or be judged

A true repented person no longer has the desires of the world (flesh) but ceases from doing sin. They don’t desire the lusts from this world but only the desire of Yahuah (1 Peter 4:1-4).

Peter says in the following verse of judgment and punishment on those who sin.

2 Peter 2:4 For if Elohim did not spare the messengers (angels) who sinned, but sent them to Tartaros (Sheol – hell), and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be kept for judgment.

Angels who sinned are in chains and will be judged.

2 Peter 2:5 And did not spare the world of old, but preserved Noah, a proclaimer of righteousness, and seven others, bringing in the flood on the world of the wicked.

Sin was punished, showing that punishment is not hold back until judgment day.

2 Peter 2;6 And having reduced to ashes the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah condemned them to destruction – having made them an example to those who afterward would live wickedly.

Again, judgment came at a certain time on the sinners. This is an example to us that judgment will come upon us any time sin is out of control.

2 Peter 2:10-13 And especially will He punish those who follow after the filthy lusts of the flesh, and have no respect for authority. Self-willed and arrogant they are and they do not tremble when they blaspheme; where messengers (angels) being greater in strength and power do not bring against them the condemnation of blaspheming. But these men, like the dumb beasts, which by nature are for slaughter and destruction, speak evil of the things that they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption; being about to receive the wages of unrighteousness, as they consider it a delightful thing to revel in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes among you, and sport themselves with their own pleasures feasting along with you in idleness.

These verses speak for themselves – sin will be punished.

Read careful the next 2 verses as it is speaking to those who have come into faith but later turn back to their sinful ways.

2 Peter 2:14-15 Having eyes full of adultery, and never ceasing from sin; seducing unsettled souls; having a heart being filled with covetousness; they are cursed children; who have forsaken the straight path, and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness.

2 Peter 2;17 These are fountains without water, clouds driven by a storm, to whom the blackest darkness is kept forever.

They are not bearing any fruit but are only troublemakers.

2 Peter 2:20-21 For if, when they have escaped the pollutions of the world by the knowledge of our Master and Redeemer, Yahshua the Messiah, they become again entangled in the very same things and are overcome by them, their latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it was better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than having recognized it to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

The blood of Messiah pays the penalty of our sins, and the Rauch (Holy Spirit) gives us a new spirit to reject sin and walk in newness of life. If we reject this spirit from Yahuah and go back to our old way of life, then we are blaspheming the Rauch (Holy Spirit) and rejecting eternal life.

Those who know the truth but turn away from it, would have been better that you did not know the truth as you will see punishment.

False prophets

Scripture warns of false prophets. False prophets or teachers can have a devastation effect on believers who are new followers or those who don’t know the complete word.

Peter goes into detail as to warn us of these false prophets and teachers. We need to be awake and to test everything when someone speaks prophesy or teaches the word.

We must remember the devil will come in all types of forms to deceive, lie and destroy.

2 Peter 1:20-21 mentions that the prophesy in scripture did not come from man or from their own interpretation. Yahuah spoke through His Ruach (Set-apart Spirit) of prophesy to man.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture came to be of one’s own interpretation, for prophecy never came by the desire of man, but men of Elohim spoke, being moved by the Set-apart Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21).

Isaiah 28:10 states “line on line precept on precept”, showing the scripture interprets itself, but you may have to go to other books of the scripture transcribed by a different person, but Yahuah is the author of all of it.

2 Peter 2:1 But there also came to be false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall secretly bring in destructive heresies, and deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.

Yahusha reveals unto us that the false prophets are those who work lawlessness (Mathew 7:15-23) and Peter does the same in chapter 2, in verse 7-8, and again in verse 21: those who turn away from the Set-apart Command.

2 Peter 2:2-3 And many shall follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of, and in greed, with fabricated words, they shall use you for gain. From of old their judgment does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.

Many today preach the word for gain. Nowhere in scripture does it say you must make the gospel your career where you earn money for a living. A lot of innocent believers’ mis-interpret the scripture and some are just false teachers using the scripture to make money.

Yahusha clearly says…… “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. You have received without paying, give without being paid (Matthew 10:8).

The word, prophesy and the truth are given to us all for free, we should share it for free not to gain.

2 Peter 2:18-19 For speaking arrogant nonsense, they entice – through the lusts of the flesh, through indecencies – the ones who have indeed escaped from those living in delusion, promising them freedom, though themselves being slaves of corruption – for one is a slave to whatever overcomes him.

These false prophets/teachers speak lies (little bit of truth mixed with many lies) promising all sorts of doctrine but is only false hope.

2 Peter 2:20-21 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Master and Saviour Yahusha Messiah, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the set-apart command delivered unto them.

The false prophets/teachers will be punished much worse for turning away from truth.

It would be better they did not know the path of righteousness than having recognized it.

For them the proverb has proved true, “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “A washed sow returns to her rolling in the mud” (2 Peter 2:22 and Proverbs 26:11).
