Studying the scripture for over 11 years and writing various messages on my blog regarding the Messiah has led to so many questions. Many of my close friends including myself would say that there are still many mysteries about the Messiah. I recently had a conversation with a believer speaking on the mysteries around the Messiah and it was mentioned that the Messiah could not have died for our sins. This puzzled me so much that I had to dig deeper into scripture to find out if this statement was true. What I found was much more than this one question.
If you are reading this message, I ask that you read to the end, do your own study and test everything. My resource and references are taken from the scripture only and this what I found.
Jeremiah 8:8 How do you say, we are wise, and the Torah of Yahuah is with us? But look, the lying pen of the scribes has certainly worked deceit (falsehood). The religious leaders from far back till this day have manipulated the scripture and lied to the people for personal gain and power.
1) Die for own sin
In Deuteronomy 24:16 it says, “Fathers are not put to death for their children, and children are not put to death for their fathers, each is to die for his own sin.
Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, they are all My souls. As the soul of the father, also the soul of the son, they are Mine. The soul that sins, it shall die. Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sins, it shall die. A son shall not bear the iniquity of the father. And a father shall not bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him. Ezekiel 18:30 I will judge you, each man by his ways, O house of Israel, declares Adonai Yahuah. Turn and be made to turn from all your transgressions, and iniquity shall not be a stumbling block to you.
People will reap what they sow for their own actions and sins.
2 Chronicles 25:3-4 And it came to be, when the reign was established for him, that he slew his servants who had smitten his father the sovereign. But he did not put their children to death, but did as it is written in the Torah in the Book of Mosheh, where Yahuah commanded, saying, “Fathers are not put to death for their children, and children are not put to death for their fathers, but each one has to die for his own sin.”
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we all have to appear before the judgment seat of Messiah, in order for each one to receive according to what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
The verses above states that no one can die for another person’s sin, each person is responsible for their own sin.
The question is had the Heavenly Father send His Son to die for others sins. Heavenly Father states in Deuteronomy 24:16 That each person is to be punished for their own sin, so why was the Son killed for others sin or is there some other explanation on what happened with the Son.
The prophet
Deuteronomy 18:18-19 I shall raise up a prophet to them from among their brothers, one like you (Moses); and I will put My Words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. And it shall be, whoever will not listen to My Words which he shall speak in My name, I will require it at his hand.
Acts 3:22-23 “For Mosheh truly said to the fathers, ‘Yahuah your Elohim shall raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear according to all matters, whatever He says to you. ‘And it shall be that every being who does not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
Exodus 23:21 “Be on guard before Him and obey His voice. Do not rebel against Him, for He is not going to pardon your transgression, for My Name is in Him.
Heavenly Father will send him with His Words in him to speak to all and will punish those that do not listen to what he speaks.
Who is this prophet?
Is the one that Isaiah speaks in Chapter 53 this prophet? Other scriptures are Psalm 22, Isaiah 7:14, Micah 5:2, Isaiah 42:1, Proverbs 30:4.
Isaiah 53:1-2 Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of Yahuah revealed? For He comes up as a shoot before Him, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form nor majesty that we should see Him; nor form that we should desire Him.
Who did not receive or believed this report? Answer: His people.
Isaiah 11:1-2 And a Rod shall come forth from the stump of Yishai, and a Sprout from his roots shall bear fruit. The Spirit of Yahuah shall rest upon Him. Isaiah 42:1 “See, My Servant whom I uphold, My Chosen One My being has delighted in! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He brings forth right-ruling to the nations.
Note the below prophesy was fulfilled when He walked on earth.
Isaiah 53 says what He will do. Verse 3-12.3 He is despised and abandoned (isolated from) of men, a Man of pains, and acquainted(accustomed) with sickness. And (as one from whom we would hide) as it were hiding our faces from Him, He being despised, and we did not value Him.
4Surely He has borne our sicknesses, and He carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him plagued(imagine Him as disease) (but we had regarded him diseased), smitten by (of) Elohim, and afflicted.
Elohim would never beat or kill him. so smitten by Elohim cannot be correct but it should read “smitten of God” – meaning the son of God was smitten (beaten) by those who saw Him to be a plaque. People beat Him. It also says he carried our pain (not sin).
5But He was wounded (pierced (pained)) for our transgressions (rebellious sins);He was bruised (oppressed) for our iniquities; the chastisement (discipline)(upon him was for our benefit) of our peace was upon Him; and with His wounds (stripes) we ourselves are healed. Read also Psalm 22:6-19.
Who wounded, bruised and disciplined Him? Wounded or pierced is not killed or death for our sins but suffered.
6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have each one turned to his own way; and Yahuah made meet in (laid on) (inflicted upon him) Him the iniquity (immoral / sin) of all of us.7He was oppressed (persecuted), and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led (like a sheep) as a lamb to the slaughter; and as an ewe before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.
He kept quiet when they persecuted Him and led Him like a sheep is led to be slaughtered. When was this done? Was this not when He walked on earth. If verse 7 was when He was on earth then verse 5 is about the same event at that time He was on earth.
8He was taken from prison and from justice; and who shall consider His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of My people, He was stricken.
This verse confirms who did all these things to Him - “My people.”
9And He appointed Him His grave with the wicked, but He was with a rich man in His death; though He had done no violence, and deceit was not in His mouth.
He went to the grave as an innocent man (Innocent life taken).
Would it really have pleased Yahuah to bruise Him being innocent. Would I enjoy bruising my own son when he did nothing wrong? NB His soul was taken as an offering not His body or His blood. In Moses time, animal blood was used to clean the altar before the sin offering. In this verse the soul was taken as a guilt offering. People felt guilty when they did wrong to an innocent man.
11He shall see His seed; He shall prolong His days (live long days); and the will of Yahuah shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the life of light, the fruit of the travail of His soul; He shall be fully satisfied. By His knowledge shall My righteous Servant justify for many, and He shall bear their iniquities. 12Because of this I will divide to Him with the great, and with the strong He shall divide the spoil; because He poured out His soul to death; and He was counted with those transgressing(wicked); and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession(prayed) for transgressors (wicked).
He poured out His soul not His blood. The soul was taken when He died. The soul is the Ruach (Spirit) given by Yahuah. Could this be a translation error where it should have been stated the body instead of the soul.
Genesis 2:7 And Yahuah Elohim formed the man out of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils breath of life (Spirit/Ruach). And the man became a living being (living soul). We have been made out of dust from the ground (body – skin, bone, heart, brain, hair etc.) but what makes us alive is the breath (spirit) of life = a living soul (the Spirit of Yahuah). All souls belong to Yahuah.
Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the being (Spirit). But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both being and body in Gehenna.
Man can only kill the body (flesh) and not the spirit (soul/being) of that person. Yahuah’s breath gives life.
Job 33:4 The Spirit of El has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Why is Isaiah 53 (Psalm 22 and other) important to understand. Reason that Isaiah 53 does not contradict the Torah (Deuteronomy 24:16 for each person is to die for his own sin).
Acts 3:20-21 And that He may send forth the One before proclaimed to you, Yahusha Messiah, whom Heaven truly needs to receive untilthe fullness of the times of all things, of which Elohim spoke through the mouth of all His holy prophets from old. Was this verse referring to Isaiah 53 and other Old Testament texts?
There are many other verses speaking about this Prophet or Messiah (the Son) and the above verses seem to line up with the Messiah spoken in the New Testament.
Let me bring in other verses that will show a different outcome as to the religious view (Christianity).
Deuteronomy 21:22 it says “And when a man has committed a sin worthy of death, then he shall be put to death and you shall hang him on a tree.
Moses is saying a person that is guilty of sin shall be put to death by hanging on a tree. We know the Messiah was hanged from a tree.
Acts 5:30 “The Elohim of our fathers raised up Yahusha whom you laid hands on, hanging Him on a timber (Peter speaking).
According to the New Testament the Messiah had no sin, therefore according the Deuteronomy 21:22 they put Him to death for something He did not do – He was not a sinner.
Who was the sinner?
Psalm 22:16 For dogs have surrounded Me; A crowd of evil ones have encircled Me, piercing My hands and My feet.
The evil crowd called dogs are the sinners.
Matthew 16:21 From that time Yahusha began to show to His taught ones that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and to suffer much from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and to be raised again the third day.
Matthew 26:3-4 Then the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people came together at the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and plotted to seize Yahusha by trickery and kill Him.
Matthew 26:45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, sleep on, and rest for what time remains. Behold, the hour draws near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Confirmed above who the sinners are.
Matthew 26:59-61 And the chief priests and the elders and the whole Sanhedrin looked for false testimony against Yahusha, so that they might put Him to death, but did not find any, even though there were many false witnesses coming forward, they did not find any. But at last, coming up two false witnesses said, This One said, I am able to destroy the sanctuary of Elohim, and in three days to rebuild it.
Another law broken by having false witnesses.
Matthew 26:64-66 Yahusha said to him, you said it. I tell you more. From this time, you shall see the Son of Man sitting off the right hand of Yahuah in power, and coming on the clouds of the heaven. Then the high priest tore his garments, saying, He blasphemed! Why do we have any more need of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard His blasphemy. What does it seem to you? And answering, they said, He is deserving of death.
According to the Oral laws (Talmud) of the Jews if Yahshua had blasphemed, using the sacred name Yahuah, then the penalty would be death. The fact that they quickly said He deserves death shows the sacred name was uttered by Yahusha in verse 64.
John 19:11 Yahusha answered, “You would possess no authority against Me if it were not given you from above. Because of this, he who delivered Me to you has greater sin.”
Confirmed above again who the sinners are.
John 9:16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from Elohim, because He does not guard the Sabbath.” Others said,“How is a man who is a sinner able to do such miracles?”
Acts 3:13-15 “The Elohim of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the Elohim of our fathers, esteemed His Servant Yahusha, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. “But you denied the Set-apart and Righteous One, and asked that a man, a murderer, be granted you. “But you killed the Leader of life, whom Elohim raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.
Based on the verses above the true sinners were those who murdered Yahusha. The sinners were chief priests, and the scribes, the elders, whole of Sanhedrin and all the people that were there at the time of the hearing.
If you read Isaiah 53 based on knowing who the sinners were makes this prophesy mean differently to the modern religious view. He poured out His soul to death as he bore the sin of many, must be the sinners mentioned above. Isaiah was speaking of Yahuah’s people.
In all the prophesies from the Old Testament regarding the Prophet or Messiah does it mention of His blood to cover people’s sin. The only OT verse which speaks of an offering is in Isaiah 53:10 & 12 which is His soul and not His blood.
Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, the traitor, seeing that He was condemned, repenting, returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, saying, I sinned, betraying innocent blood. But they said, what is it to us? You see to it.
Pilate in Matthew 27:24 washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous one; you do as you please. The response from the Pharisees in Matthew 27:25 And answering, all the people said, let His blood be on us and on our children.
Both Judas and Pilate saying the death of Messiah would be innocent blood, other words it is murder.
Deuteronomy 19:10 so that innocent blood is not shed in the midst of your land which Yahuah your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance, or blood-guilt shall be upon you.
The people said, let His blood be on us and on our children. Who are the “us and our children,” meaning future generations? The chief priests, the scribes, the elders, whole of Sanhedrin, plus all the people that were there at the time of the hearing and their future children were cursed by themselves.
An innocent man was murdered.
Many will say we need a blood offering to take our sins away. This was how it was done in the Old Testament through animals’ blood and in the New Testament through the blood of Messiah. There are many verses from the Old to the New Testament saying a blood offering for sin is required but there are verses that say something else. Lets look further!
Is this true that a blood offer is required to cover sins.
Here are two scripture readings from the Old Testament speaking of the sin offering by means of animal offering.
Leviticus 4:13-20 ‘And if the entire congregation of Yisra’Ãl strays by mistake, and the matter has been hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done against any of the commands of Yahuah, which are not to be done, and shall be guilty, when the sin which they have sinned becomes known, then the assembly shall bring a young bull for the sin, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting. ‘And the anointed priest shall bring some of the bull’s blood to the Tent of Meeting, and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before Yahuah, in front of the veil, and put some of the blood on the horns of the altar which is before Yahuah, which is in the Tent of Meeting, and pour all the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent ofMeeting.‘Then he takes all the fat from it and shall burn it on the altar.‘And he shall do with the bull as he did with the bull as a sin offering – so shall he do it. And the priest shall make atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them.
Ezekiel 43:19-25 ‘And you shall give a young bull for a sin offering to the priests, the Levites, who are of the seed of Zadok, who approach unto Me,’ declares the Master Yahuah. ‘And you shall take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar, on the four corners of the ledge, and on the rim around it, and shall cleanse it and make atonement for it. ‘And you shall take the bull of the sin offering, and shall burn it in the appointed place of the House, outside the set-apart place. ‘And on the second day you bring a male goat, a perfect one, for a sin offering. And they shall cleanse the altar, as they cleansed it with the bull. ‘When you have ended cleansing it, bring a young bull, a perfect one, and a ram from the flock, a perfect one. ‘And you shall bring them before Yahuah, and the priests shall throw salt on them and offer them up as a burnt offering to Yahuah. ‘Prepare a goat for a sin offering daily for seven days, and prepare a young bull and a ram from the flock, perfect ones.
The altar was cleansed with the animal’s blood.
The next scripture verses tell us that the slaughter offerings of animals cannot take your sins away and is not the desire of the Heavenly Father.
Psalm 40:6-8 Slaughtering and meal offering You did not desire; You have opened my ears; Burnt offering and sin offering You did not ask for. Then I said, “See, I have come; In the scroll of the Book it is prescribed for me. I have delighted to do Your pleasure, O my Elohim, And Your Torah is within my heart.”
Psalm 51:15-17 O Yahuah, open my lips, and that my mouth declare Your praise. For You do not desire slaughtering, or I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The slaughterings of Elohim are a broken spirit, A heart broken and crushed, O Elohim, These You do not despise.
1 Samuel 15:22-23 Then Samuel said, “Does Yahuah delight in burnt offerings and slaughterings, as in obeying the voice of Yahuah? Look, to obey is better than an offering, to heed is better than the fat of rams. “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and stubbornness is as wickedness and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Yahuah, He also does reject you as sovereign.”
Jeremiah 7:21-23 Thus said Yahuah of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’el, “Add your burnt offerings to your slaughterings and eat meat. “For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim, about matters of burnt offerings or slaughterings. “But this word I did command them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I shall be your Elohim, and you be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, so that it be well with you.’
Hebrews 10:2-6 Otherwise, if they had once been perfected, they would have ceased to be offered? For from hence forth, their minds would not have driven them into the sins from which they had once been cleansed. But in those sacrifices they remembered their sins year by year, for it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away (the penalty of) sins. For this reason, coming into the world, He says, "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but You prepared a body for Me. You did not delight in burnt offerings and sin offerings."
Matthew 9:12-13 And Yahusha hearing this, said to them, “Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. “But go and learn what this means, ‘I desire compassion and not offering.’
The questions to ask about animal sacrifices for sin is the following.
In Deuteronomy 21:22 it says a person that committed a sin worthy of death shall be put to death.
What if a person in this case sacrificed an animal (blood) would he/she be able to live?
Remember Deuteronomy 24:16 says, “Fathers are not put to death for their children, and children are not put to death for their fathers, each is to die for his own sin.
Can an animal’s death take the place of that person sinning?
How were the sins forgiven in the times of Yohanan the Immerser (John the Baptist) as he did not offer slaughtering’s of animals?
Who was Yochanan (John) the immerser (Grace of Yah) and what was his purpose? Read Luke 1:66-79– verse 71 That He would save us from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us. Verse 74 that we would be delivered (saved) from the hand of our enemies. Verse 76-77 And you, child, will be called Prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the face of Yahuah to prepare His way, to give a knowledge of salvation to His people by the removing of their sins.
Matthew 3:5-11 (John the Baptist) Then Jerusalem, and all Judah, and all the country around the Jordan went out to him, and they were immersed by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. “I indeed immerse you in water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to bear. He shall immerse you in the Set-apart Spirit and fire.
Mark 1:4-5 Yohanan came immersing (baptizing) in the wilderness and proclaiming an immersion of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the country of Judah, and those of Jerusalem, went out to him and were all immersed by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
So, if John the Baptist was not offering animals for the forgiveness of sins why is the blood of Messiah required. Messiah was also witnessing John baptizing the people and He did not say that it was wrong.
If a blood offer is required, how was it possible that this man in Matthew 9:2 was forgiven his sins when the Messiah was not yet died on the timber (stake). And see, they were bringing to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. And Yahusha, seeing their belief, said to the paralytic, “Take courage, son, your sins have been forgiven.”
What about the adulteries woman who He said her sins are forgiven but to not sin anymore – His blood was not poured out to cover sins. In Mathew 9:6 the Messiah says “But in order for you to know that the Son of Adam possesses authority on earth to forgive sins...”
How are our sins forgiven?
Matthew 28:18-20 And Yahusha came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Therefore, go and make taught ones of all the nations, immersing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Set-apart Spirit, teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you.
John 12:44-47 Then Yahusha cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. “And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. “I have come as a light into the world, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness. “And if anyone hears My Words but does not watch over them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
He said nothing about a blood covering. He came as a light to take us out of darkness.
Titus 2:13-14 looking for the blessed expectation and esteemed appearance of the great Elohim and our Saviour Yahusha Messiah, who gave Himself for us, to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people, His own possession, ardent for good works.
Some may read the above as follows: gave Himself for us (died for us), to redeem us from lawlessness (blood cover the sins) and cleanse for Himself (His blood offer).
Or some can read it this way: gave Himself for us (teach us the truth), to redeem us from lawlessness (repent and do the will of the Father) and cleanse for Himself (Baptize to be clean before Him).
Philippians 2:5-8 For, let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah Yahusha, who, being in the form of Elohim, did not regard equality with Elohim a matter to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, and came to be in the likeness of men. And having been found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, death even of a stake.
Receiving the Ruach, who will teach you to Hear and obey, where the commands are written on your heart and you do them.
Lawlessness is a synonym for sin (1 John 3:4). This is the main reason why Yahusha came to earth: to save sinners from sin. Titus 3:5-6 He saved us, not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His compassion, through the washing of rebirth, and renewal by the Set-apart Spirit, which He poured out on us richly through Yahusha Messiah our Saviour.
He did not pour out His blood for forgiveness of sin but a gift offering (His teaching was the gift which His Father gave to Him to speak, the truth so we can walk as He walked in truth). Messiah gave up His life to show us how to live. Gave His spiritual life with Father to be placed in flesh like man to be an example to us. His blood does not save us but the teaching He brought is to save us.
Must add that in many texts in the Old Testament (including the Torah) where it is said the following; Turn back (repent) from sin, obey the voice of Yahuah and your sins will be forgiven. The New Testament includes baptizing in water. No mention of animal offerings.
There were various types of animal offerings: Sin offering, burnt offering, peace offering, atonement offering, guilt offering etc. Imagine how many animals a day were slaughtered and still your sins cannot be taken away. This is a huge topic to discuss and will be made for another day.
Would cleansing oneself of dirt, mud, sin through water not be an accepted method by the Almighty Father.
What was the Messiah’s purpose when He came to earth in the flesh).
Deuteronomy 18:18-19 I shall raise up a prophet to them from among their brothers, one like you (Moses); and I will put My Words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. And it shall be, whoever will not listen to My Words which he shall speak in My name, I will require it at his hand.
The Son shall have His Father’s Words in Him and we need to listen to these Words.
Exodus 15:2 “Yah is my strength and song, and He has become my deliverance.
Prophecy of the Messiah to come: the Yeshua of Yah (Yah will save or deliver).
Matthew 1:21 “And she shall give birth to a Son, and you shall call His Name Yahusha for He shall save His people from their sins.”
Other words, He will teach them the truth (Good News – Father’s Word) so they can be saved from death which comes through sin.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Yahusha began to proclaim and to say, “Repent, for the reign of the heavens has drawn near.” Matthew 10:7.
Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete.
Matthew 7:26 “And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not do them, shall be like a foolish man.
1 John 3:8 The one doing sin is of the devil, because the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of Elohim was manifested (revealed) : to destroy the works of the devil.
Titus 2:14 who gave Himself on our behalf, "That He might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify a special people for Himself, zealous of goodworks."
John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim remains on him.”
His Words (teachings, commands) are the same as His Father’s
John 8:51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone guards My Word he shall never see death at all.”
Matthew 9:13 For I did not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.”
Mark 4:12 so that ‘seeing they see but do not perceive, and hearing they hear but do not understand, lest they should turn (repent) and their sins be forgiven them.’ ”
The ultimate purpose of hearing the Word is to turn (repent) and then be healed (forgiven) of the greatest sickness: sin!
Mark 1:14-15 Yahusha came to Galil, proclaiming the Good News of the reign of Elohim,and saying, “The time has been filled, and the reign of Elohim has come near. Repent, and believe in the Good News.”
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of Yahuah is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to bring the Good News to the poor.
Yahusha came to set us free (save us) from sin, to deliver (save) us from being in bondage to sin. This is the Good News, this is all that eventually matters!
John 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.
John 14:21“He who possesses My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 14:23 Yahusha answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our stay with him.
The perfect sequence: first love, then obedience. This has been so ever since Exodus 20:6, and repeated throughout Scripture, down to 1 John 5:2-3 and 2 John verse 6.
All these verses above from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tie up with Deuteronomy 18:18-19.
2) Did Messiah die on Passover
Mark 14:1-2 Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread was after two days. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to take Him through treachery and put Him to death. And they said, “Not at the festival, lest there shall be an uproar of the people.”
The chief priests and the scribes did not want to carry out their plan to kill Messiah during the festival. What festival was this the priests spoke about.
Mark 14:16-18 And His taught ones went out and came into the city, and found it as He said to them, and they prepared the Passover. And evening having come, He came with the twelve. And as they sat and ate, Yahusha said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you who is eating with Me shall deliver Me up.”
Were they eating at the Passover?
Luke 22:13-15 And going they found it as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover. And when the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve emissaries with Him. And He said to them, “With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before My suffering.
In this verse it seems that they are eating at the Passover.
John 19:14 And it was the Preparation Day of the Passover week, and about the sixth our (This was with Pilate during the hearing). John 19:31 Therefore, since it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the stake on the Sabbath – for that Sabbath was a high one – the Yehudim asked Pilate to have their legs broken, and that they betaken away (This was when Messiah had already died on the stake).
Mark 15:6-7 And at a festival he released to them one prisoner, whomever they were asking. And there was one called Barabba, chained with his fellow rebels, who had committed murder in the uprising.
What festival was this that the murderer was released on?
All 4 gospels seem to speak of different periods.
The lamb’s blood at the first Passover was to protect the first-born sons of been killed. The blood had to be placed on the lintel of the door.
According to Christianity, Messiah was the Passover lamb as a blood offering for everyone’s sin.
The first Passover was for protection and judgement. The Passover of Messiah was for saving?
Here in my opinion is something that is not making sense. Messiah’s blood was not placed on something like a lintel as at the first Passover but His blood was poured out onto the ground (John 19:34).
It does not mention in all the prophesies from the Old Testament regarding the Prophet or Messiah of Him being the Passover lamb.
3) Eating (drinking) of blood
This topic is very heavy.
The apostles were spreading the Good News to all with some of these people being from other nations which did not follow the Torah. The Apostles made basic rules that will allow them to meet together with a clear conscience. These 4 points are not the only doctrine that a new believer will have to learn, but they are a starting point. One of these points is to abstain from blood. Acts 15:20 but that we write to them to abstain from the defilements of idols, and from whoring, and from what is strangled, and from blood.
Life is in the blood
Genesis 9:4-6 “But do not eat flesh with its life, its blood. “But only your blood for your lives I require, from the hand of every beast I require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother, I require the life of man. “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood is shed, for in the image of Elohim has He made man.
Leviticus 3:16-17 ‘And the priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering made by fire for a sweet fragrance. All the fat belongs to Yahuah. ‘An everlasting law throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you do not eat any fat or any blood.’ ”
Leviticus 17:10-11 ‘And any man of the house of Yisra’el, or of the strangers who sojourn among you, who eats any blood, I shall set My face against that being who eats blood, and shall cut him off from among his people. ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your lives, for it is the blood that makes atonement for the life.’
Deuteronomy 12:23-24 “Only, be firm not to eat the blood, for the blood is the life, do not eat the life with the meat. “Do not eat it, you pour it on the earth like water.
Deuteronomy 19:10 so that innocent blood is not shed in the midst of your land which Yahuah your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance, or blood-guilt shall be upon you.
Psalm 50:12-15 “If I were hungry, I would not speak to you; For the world is Mine, and all that fills it. “Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? “Offer thanksgiving to Elohim, and pay your vows to the Most High. “And call upon Me in the day of distress – Let Me rescue you, and you esteem Me.”
Very clear that we should not eat or drink blood.
Acts 15:20 ties up with the Torah regarding defilements of or from blood.
In the Christian church, messianic believers and so-called Torah followers or Hebrew roots believers take part of communion (church) or the bread and cup of remembrance (Torah followers).
John 6:53-54 Yahusha therefore said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Adam and drink His blood, you possess no life in yourselves. “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood possesses everlasting life, and I shall raise him up in the last day.
Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Yahusha took bread, and having blessed, broke and gave it to the taught ones and said, “Take, eat, this is My body.” And taking the cup, and giving thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. “For this is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.
I’m not sure what to say as in these texts the Messiah is speaking. Why would He instruct something like this when His Father said not to do?
This instruction does not tie-up with the Torah and Acts 15:20.
Breaking bread
The book of Acts in 5 places states breaking of bread is carried out when the apostles visit a member at their home and not communion. We know Paul does mention in his letters to the congregation to take communion.
Acts 2:42 & 47 And they were continuing steadfastly in the teaching of the emissaries, and in the fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers. And day by day, continuing with one mind in the Set-apart Place, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.
Acts 20:7 & 11 And on the first day of the week, the taught ones having gathered together to break bread, Sha’ul, intending to depart the next day, was reasoning with them and was extending the word till midnight. Then going up again, and having broken bread and eaten, he talked a long while, even till daybreak, and so went forth.
Acts 27:35 And having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to Elohim in the presence of them all. And when he had broken it he began to eat.
Breaking bread is coming together as a family or friends to share a meal. May symbolize the bread of life.
Luke 24:30 And it came to be, when He (Messiah) sat at the table with them, having taken the bread, He blessed, and having broken, He was giving it to them.
Messiah broke bread and did not say anything of eating His flesh or drinking His blood.
Is this an error or mis-translation in scripture of Yahusha saying to eat His flesh and to drink His blood or could it be the Old Testament, Torah and the prophets that is in error?
In all the prophesies from the Old Testament regarding the Prophet or Messiah does not mention His body and His blood is to be eaten and drank.
4) Summary
Below is my take on the three topics 1) Die for own sin, 2) Did Messiah die on Passover, 3) Eating of blood.
1) Each person to die for his own sin.
2) The soul that sins will die.
3) Messiah did not sin, therefore His soul could not have died.
4) How could He bore the sin of many when He cannot take the punishment for others sin?
5) Messiah was killed by evil men which made them sin.
6) Messiah’s body died but His soul was still alive as He did not sin.
7) Man cannot kill a person’s soul/being (spirit), therefore Messiah’s body only was killed.
8) An innocent man’s blood was poured out onto the ground making them sin - blood-guilt was upon them.
9) The sinners said let His blood be on us and our children.
10) If we accept His blood on us then we are part of the sinners who agreed to take His blood on them.
11) He was killed once in the body and cannot be killed again because He is not on earth (not in the flesh).
12) Because He did not sin, His soul has never and will never see death.
13) Because His soul never saw death, He did not place anybody’s sin on Him.
14) Slaughtering’s and offerings were never on the cards from Yahuah but only to hear and obey His voice.
15) According to NT scripture, the Messiah could not have died on the Passover feast.
16) The OT prohibits the eating or drinking of blood and also confirmed by the NT apostles.
17) Would the Messiah change the command of not to eat (drink) blood?
18) Is the statement from Messiah to eat His flesh and drink His blood an error in scripture?
19) Or did the Messiah actually break bread which means He is the bread of life – His Word from His Father will give us everlasting life (saved).
20) According to scripture, Father and Son is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, they do not change.
5) Final word
The above writings are my study of scripture and I ask those who read this writing of mine to do their own research plus to test everything.
In Christianity, the church leaders teach that the Old Testament is old and only to follow what is written in the New Testament. According to the church leaders the Old Testament is done away with since the Messiah came to earth in the flesh.
Was this taught purposely or in error by the church leaders so that people would not notice what is prohibited in the Torah or commands. On the other hand, I have found many scripture verses in the New Testament that are opposite from what the church leaders teach.
Then on the Rabbinical (Talmud) side the traditions of men and man-made laws became the teaching of today and the New Testament is seen as false. In their teachings the 5 books of Moses (The Torah) are read every year and became known as the Torah portions. Very little is read in the other parts like example the books of the prophets. When the Torah portion is read within that week a verse from the prophets would be added which mostly did not tie-up with the weekly portion.
Was this taught purposely or in error by the rabbis so that people would not notice the reference to the prophet or Messiah spoken by Moses and the prophets. Just like the New Testament, many scripture verses in the Old Testament are opposite from what the rabbis and the Hebrew roots leaders teach.
After many years of studying, I realize man has tampered with scripture to suit their doctrine and also to misled people of the truth. The doctrines from the two major religions are false or have a bit of truth mixed with falsehood which still leads to falsehood.
I have come to realize that religion is the major problem in this world and man is the one that has made this religion. I’m now free from any religion.
The Messiah came to set me free from slavery (spiritual and physically), to teach me the truth. With the Spirit of the Father in me and the truth given by His Son, I’m taught and guided by His Spirit (Ruach). All the Father wants is for me to hear and follow His voice.
