Israel the people is seen as the bride of Yahuah. In this chapter the people are no longer His bride due to whoring and having children from whoring.
Hosea chapter 2 speaks of a whore (Israel) who the Heavenly Father is no longer her husband and removes her and her children (divorce) from Him. One day in the future after she (Israel) turns away from her whoring and asks forgiveness from her husband, is accepted back as His bride forever. Note these that return will always only be a remnant as majority will not return. People today see Israel as a certain nation (race, language or gene) but it is not who Israel is! Israel is those who hear His voice and walk in (do) His commands.
Verse 1-5 is the warning of punishment due to whoring. Israel's unfaithfulness to Yahuah and since she did not recognize the blessings that were given to her by Elohim He would remove them from her.
Verse 1-3 Say to your brothers, a people; and to your sisters, Mercy. Strive! Strive with your mother, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. Therefore, let her put away her harlotries from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts, that I not strip her naked and set her out as in the day that she was born, and make her as the wilderness, and place her like a dry land, and kill her with thirst.
These three verses give first the warning of what will come upon the sinner, given by all prophets. The below two verses include the children who are born from the whoring mother.
Verse 4-5 And I will not have pity for her sons, for they are the sons of harlotries. For their mother has committed adultery; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, I will go after my lovers who give my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.
Verses 6-13 is the divorce (punishment and struggles).
Verse 6-7 Therefore, behold, I will hedge your way with thorns, and I will wall up her wall, that she shall not find her paths. And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them. And she shall look for them, but she shall not find them. Then she shall say, I will go and return to my first husband, for then it was better with me than now.
She will wonder around doing her own thing, struggling through the days not achieving anything. Then she will return to her husband but still partake in whoring (mixed worship – mix little truth with lies).
Verse 8-9 For she did not know that I gave her grain and wine and oil, and I multiplied her silver and the gold they made for Baal. So, I will return and take My grain in its time, and My wine in its season. And I will take back My wool and My flax she uses to cover her nakedness.
She will gain from the world but not acknowledge from her husband but rather from baal and He will then start removing them from her.
Verse 10-13 And now I will reveal her shamefulness to the eyes of her lovers, and not a man shall deliver her out of My hand. I will also cause all her joy to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her Sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts. And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, of which she has said, they are my rewards that my lovers have given me. And I will set them for a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them. And I will visit on her the days of the baals in which she burned incense to them. Yea, she adorned herself withher nose rings, and her jewels, and she went after her lovers and forgot Me, says Yahuah.
The husband will expose her whorings to the world and she shall forget His set-apart days for false feast days. Her days will be a struggle as she turns her walk to falsehood. She adorns herself with rings, make-up and jewelry and goes whoring after her lovers (falsehood).
Verses 14 is the husbands loving and merciful heart.
Verse 14 Therefore, behold, I will lure her and bring her to the wilderness, and speak to her heart.
After a while of going through her hardships, the husband starts giving her truth (mercy, grace) when she is down in the dumps and she looks back on her lifestyle (struggles) to realize if this whoring life is all worth it.
Verse 15 is a period when the truth is slowly provided to the bride of which only a remnant will hear and obey.
Verse 15 And from there I will give her vineyards to her, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope. And she shall answer there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
Yahuah start revealing the truth, then a remnant start hearing His word, and repentance returns.
Verse 16-23 In the future the husband will remove the falsehood (whoring) and take His bride forever.
Verse 16-17 And at that day, says Yahuah, you shall call Me, my husband; and you shall no more call Me, my baal. For I will take away the names of the baals out of her mouth; and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
Baal means Lord. A time will come when all false names are removed and the true name will be used.
Verse 18 And in that day, I will cut a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and the creepers of the ground. And I will break the bow and the sword, and the battle out of the earth, and I will make them to lie down securely.
The new covenant will take place for all the earth.
Verse 19-23 And I will betroth you to Me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in mercy, and in compassions. I will even betroth you to Me in faithfulness. And you shall know Yahuah. And it shall be in that day, I will answer, says Yahuah. I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth. And the earth shall hear the grain, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall answer Jezreel. And I will sow her to Me in the land. And I will have mercy on No Mercy. And I will say to not My People, you are My people! And they shall say, my Elohim!
In the end time Yahuah will redeem the remnant bride of Israel and sow her in fertile soil where she will be blessed for her repentance in that day forever.
