The Spirit of Yahuah

David knew that the Set-apart (Holy) Spirit was important for him to walk in the presence of Yahuah (Heavenly Father). David was afraid that Abba Father would take His Spirit away from him when he sinned. He cried out to Yahuah not to take His Spirit away, David said the following; Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Set-apart (Holy) Spirit from me - Psalms 51:10-11.

We also should ask Yahuah every day to give us a clean heart and not to take His Spirit away.

Yahuah choose Saul to be the first King of Israel and blessed him with His Spirit, but King Saul became pride and self-centred. "And the Spirit of Yahuah shall come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them and be turned into another man - 1 Samuel 10:6 (Yahuah was talking about King Saul).

And it came to be, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that Elohim gave him another heart (Yahuah made Saul new of heart). And all those signs came on that day. And they came there to the hill and saw a group of prophets, to meet him. And the Spirit of Elohim came upon him (King Saul), and he prophesied in their midst - 1 Samuel 10:9-10.

And the Spirit of Elohim came upon Saul mightily as he heard these words, .......... - 1 Samuel 11:6 (King Saul was not happy with some of the people).

In the following verse, Yahuah gives His Set-apart Spirit to David. And Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of Yahuah came upon David from that day and onwards.... 1 Samuel 16:13.

In Mark 3:28-29, Messiah says that forgiveness is not given to anybody that blasphemy against the Set-apart Spirit.

King Saul is an example of Yahuah taking His Spirit away from someone, see next verse. And the Spirit of Yahuah turned aside from Saul (left him), and an evil spirit from Yahuah troubled him - 1 Samuel 16:13-14.

This is one example in scripture of someone blaspheming against the Spirit of Yahuah and we have King David understanding that without Yahuah's Spirit he would be lost.

We should be very careful not to lose the Set-apart Spirit of Yahuah.

"He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does gather with Me scatters abroad. Because of this I say to you, all sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven me, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven men. And whoever speaks a word against the Messiah, it shall be forgiven him, but whoever speaks against the Set-apart Spirit (Holy Spirit), it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come - Matthew 12:30-32.

"Truly, I (Messiah speaking) say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they speak, but he who blasphemes against the Set-apart Spirit has no forgiveness forever, but is subject to everlasting judgment" - Mark 3:28-29.

Is there a sin that cannot be forgiven? Yes, blasphemy against the Set-apart Spirit (Holy Spirit), is a sin that cannot be forgiven.

What is blasphemy; a: the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for. b: the act of claiming the attributes of deity. Keep in mind that there is not one specific sin that is unforgivable, such as lying, stealing or murder, but rather a frequent hardening of the heart and wilfully sinning against Yahuah and man (1 Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:15).

In Acts 7:51 Stephen says the following to the Pharisees, "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Set-apart Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.”

Remember we have a free choice, Father does not force anybody to worship Him, but when you have made that decision to follow Him, then you need to do His will, not your own will. It is no longer self, it is all for Him, the One that Created everything.

Any sin mankind wants pardon for is forgivable, however, if we turn our backs on the voice of the Set-apart Spirit (Holy Spirit) we begin to silence His convictions and eventually we cannot hear His convicting power. This effectively blocks the working of Yahuah in our lives because we have reached a point where we cannot respond to the promptings of the Set-apart Spirit. At this stage a person can no longer ask for repentance and therefore a possibility of not being saved. (Please read the following illustration for further understanding and clarity.)

Consider this illustration of the unpardonable sin.
Imagine you are tired of the Set-apart Spirit convicting you of a particular pet sin. You want to completely remove His promptings even though the voice is warning you of danger and lovingly trying to show you the right path. So, what do you do? You begin building a theoretical brick wall to block your conviction. Each brick in the wall represents a singular time you reject the conviction of the Set-apart Spirit. As you continue to reject the Spirit, the “voice” you hear gets softer and softer. You become more and more confident in your current pathway of life. Eventually, as you lay more and more bricks down you cannot hear the Set-apart Spirit anymore, thus effectively cutting off your way of repentance and therefore a possibility of been saved.

The above illustration is very similar to what King Saul did when the Spirit of Yahuah was given to him and then taken away from him. This is very serious for any believer to take note.

No church talks about this serious issue, because most teach; once saved, always saved which is not found anywhere in the Bible.

"And see, I am sending the Promise of My Father upon you, but you are to remain in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high" - Luke 24:49.

Yahusha (Jesus) Messiah answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is unable to enter into the reign of Elohim. "That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit - John 3:5-6.

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also does seek such to worship Him. "Elohim is Spirit and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth" - John 4:23-24.

And this He said concerning the Spirit which those believing in Him were about to receive, for the Set-apart Spirit (Holy Spirit) was not yet given, because Yahusha (Jesus) was not yet esteemed - John 7:39.

"And I shall give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. And I shall take the heart of stone out of your flesh, and I shall give you a heart of flesh, and put My Spirit within you. And I shall cause you to walk in My laws and guard My right-rulings and shall do them - Ezekiel 36:26-27.

So then do not be foolish, but understand what the desire of Yahuah is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is loose behaviour, but be filled with the Spirit - Ephesians 5:17-18.

"It is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh does not profit at all. The words that I speak to you are Spirit and are life - John 6:63.

"And I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Helper (Spirit), to stay with you forever. The Spirit of the Truth, whom the world is unable to receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. But you know Him, for He stays with you and shall be in you - John 14:16-17.

"And when the Helper (Spirit) comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of the Truth, who comes from the Father, He shall bear witness of Me..... John 15:26.

"But I say the truth to you, it is better for you that I (Messiah) go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper (Spirit) shall not come to you at all, but if I go, I shall send Him to you. "And having come, He shall convict the world concerning sin, ........ John 16:7-8.

"And You had patience with them for many years, and did warn them by Your Spirit, by the hands of Your prophets, yet they would not give ear - Nehemiah 9:30.

But truly I am filled with power with the Spirit of Yahuah, and with right-ruling and with might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin - Micah 3:8.

"Therefore, let it be known to you that the deliverance of Elohim has been sent to the nations, and they shall hear!" Acts 28:25-28.

And having said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Set-apart Spirit - John 20:22.

And meeting with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which you have heard from Me (Messiah), because John truly immersed (baptized) in water, but you shall be immersed in the Set-apart Spirit not many days from now" Acts 1:4-5.

And when the Day of the Festival of Shabuot (Pentecost) had come, they were all with one mind in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from the heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and settled on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Set-apart Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them to speak - Acts 2:1-4.

And when they had prayed, the place where they came together was shaken. And they were all filled with the Set-apart Spirit, and they spoke the word of Elohim with boldness - Acts 4:31.

And Stephen, filled with belief and power (Spirit), did great wonders and signs among the people - Acts 6:8.

But they were (see verse 9) unable to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke - Acts 6:10.

"To this One (Messiah) all the prophets bear witness, that through His Name, everyone believing in Him does receive forgiveness of sins." While Peter (Kepha) was still speaking these words, the Set-apart Spirit fell upon all those hearing the word - Acts 10:43-44.

Reading the above verses, we must release that without the Set-apart Spirit (Holy) we will not be able to do Father's will/commands = new heart and a new spirit who teaches us to obey Him.

"And as I began to speak, the Set-apart Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning. "And I remembered the word of the Master, how He said, 'John indeed immersed (Baptist) in water, but you shall be immersed in the Set-apart Spirit.' "So, if Elohim gave us when we believed on the Master Yahusha Messiah, how was I able to withstand Elohim?" - Acts 11:15-17.

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of Elohim dwells in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Messiah, this one is not His - Romans 8:9.

For as many are led by the Spirit of Elohim, these are sons of Elohim - Romans 8:14.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Elohim - Romans 8:16.

And in the same way the Spirit does help in our weakness. For we do not know what we should pray, but the Spirit Himself pleads our case for us with groanings unutterable - Romans 8:26.

But Elohim has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all matters, even the depths of Elohim. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? So also, the thoughts of Elohim no one has known, except the Spirit of Elohim. And we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from Elohim, in order to know what Elohim has favorably given us, which we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Set-apart Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual matters with spiritual matters. But the natural man does not receive the matters of the Spirit of Elohim, for they are foolishness to him, and he is unable to know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual discerns indeed all matters, but he himself is discerned by no one. For "Who has known the mind of Yahuah? Who shall instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Messiah - 1 Corinthians 2:10-16.

And I say; Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not accomplish the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. And these are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you desire to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under Torah (Law) - Galatians 5:16-18.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit - Galatians 5:25.

Do not quench the Spirit - 1 Thessalonians 5:19.

The importance of having the Set-apart Spirit (Holy Spirit) is the only way we would be able to worship Yahuah and obey Him because on our own esteem it is impossible.

Please read all the verses that is mentioned in this message, they are critical.

  2. I just read this study this morning with my children. The Word brings life just like the Ruach Ha'qodesh brought life and stability upon the tumultuous waters in the beginning! What a precious endowment of the Father's love for sending us this type of helpmeet/Helper. No one can do this but Abba Yahuah Elohim. Thabk you for compiling all the scriptures and being led to publish this study. MUCH NEEDED!!

    1. Thank you for your message. It is so wonderful when the Word becomes alive, as if a new life begins, teaching us His ways. Without the Ruach it would be very difficult to know Him personally. Yes you are right, the Ruach is a helpmeet/Helper, a precious gift. Its wonderful to hear you sharing the Word with your children, as in these times they need His Word more then ever. May you and your family be blessed by Yah always.
