Parable of obedience

In Jeremiah 35 the example of a non-Israelite family obeying instructions given by their fore-father many generations back and comparing this family to the people of Judah not obeying the instructions given by Yahuah.

It is a parable of an earthly father vs the Heavenly Father giving instructions to the family for guidance and for long healthy lives.

Jeremiah tested this family to see if they would still obey the instruction given to them many generations back by taking them into the temple and asking them to drink bowls of wine – Jeremiah 35:2-5.

This nomadic tribe the Rechabites of which the fore-father was Rechab gave the following commands to his children and the generations after them (Jeremiah 35:6-7).

1)      Not to drink any wine.

2)      To build no houses but to stay in tents only.

3)      To have no fields for sowing seeds.

4)      To have no vineyards.

They told Jeremiah that they will not drink the wine offered by him as they still want to obey their fore-father’s command (Jeremiah 35:6).

After several generations the Rechabite people still obeyed the commands given to them.

Hear now Heavenly Father Yahuah speaking about the obedience of Judah towards the commands given by the Almighty Father.

Jeremiah 35:12-14 Then the Word of Yahuah was to Jeremiah, saying, so says Yahuah of Hosts, the Elohim of Israel: Go and tell the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, will you not receive instruction, to listen to My Words says Yahuah. The words of Jonadab, the son of Rechabare done, in which he commanded his sons not to drink wine. And to this day they do not drink, but obey their father's command. But I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; and you did not listen to Me.

Yahuah even sent prophets but still they did not listen.

Jeremiah 35:15  I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending, saying, each man now turn back from his evil way, and amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall live in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers. But you have not bowed your ear, nor listened to Me.

Jeremiah 35:19 Yahuah blessed the Rechabites because they obeyed their fore-father (a non-Israelite) on non-biblical commands and Yahuah is chastising Judah because He sent His prophets and warned them by His living word and they refused (Jeremiah 35:17).

To Judah it was opposite from the Rechabites as punishment came upon Judah.

Jeremiah 35:17 so Yahuah, Elohim of Hosts, the Elohim of Israel, says this, Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the people of Jerusalem all the evil that I have spoken against them because I have spoken to them, but they did not listen. Yea, I have called to them, but they did not answer.

What do we learn from this parable; 1) an earthly father giving commands for his family to follow, which they do for many generations and 2) a Heavenly Father giving commands to his family to follow, which they don’t follow even to this day.

What is your answer? Mine is as follows; now I can understand why it’s not going well with us. Many will say there is a Heavenly Father (believe) but they will not follow His ways. His ways that lead us on the right path of blessing, guidance and health.

So finally, is Judah still been punished or are they now obeying the word of Yahuah?
